001-Evaluation of eviDentThe evaluation of the eviDent dental practice based network and its activities is an essential and integral part of eviDent.
002-A 5 year retrospective assay of implant complications in private practiceWith the implant experience in Victoria well developed, this eviDent project seeks to gain information about the past experiences of practitioners that will then drive a set of evidence based guidelines for the management of implant patients.
003-Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation/ Molar HypomineralisationThis eviDent project seeks to trial a MH Severity Index (MHSI) to help predict the clinical course of affected molars and assist clinicians to determine the most appropriate treatment.
004 - The PREVENT study: Reducing the X factor - understanding the relationship between general practice prescribing and xerostomiaThis project will stimulate GMPs’ awareness of oral health outcomes for a large (and increasing) group of at-risk patients, in addition to contributing much-needed information to the under-researched evidence base of GMP/ dentist collaboration.
005 - Children's Dental ProgramThis pilot study seeks to promote regular and timely dental attendance of children identified in need of dental treatment. It will investigate the value of school dental screening in disadvantaged populations.
006 - Diagnosis, treatment and maintenance of periodontal patients by general dentistsThis project is a survey of Victorian dental practitioners to determine the criteria used to establish a periodontal diagnosis, what periodontal therapies within general practices.
007 - Understanding the Relationship between Dental Professionalism and Preferred Provider StatusBy providing some insight into how a change in the working landscape is impacting on dental professionalism, autonomy and patient relationships, this project hopes to identify the key adjustments (ethical, legal and professional) that need to be made, and
008 - Investigation of the longevity of anterior resin bonded bridgesThe project aims to evaluate the survival of anterior adhesive bridges with a specific tooth preparation design provided to a patient cohort by prosthodontists in Melbourne.
009 - Evaluation of the Health Promoting Practices Pilot ProjectThe project aims to assess whether the implementation of the HPP pilot project contributes to positive behaviour changes: • for practitioners in relation to the delivery of health promoting messages; and • for patients in relation to healthy eating, phy
010 - Children's Dental Program - Expanded ProjectThis study seeks to reaffirm the value of school dental check-ups to increase dental access and retain high-needs child patients.
011 - Oral health care professionals' knowledge and beliefs about the potential causes of oral cancerThis project will help to inform OHPs on the need to discuss risk factors for oral cancer beyond tobacco and alcohol if we expect to see a decrease on incidence of such malignant, but yet preventable disease. 012 - Diet advice in the dental setting: practitioners' perceptions and evaluation of an online training moduleThis project aims to improve nutritional counselling in dental practices through an online training module and determine how effective the training module is in changing attitudes, knowledge and behaviour.
013 - The Oral Cancer Risk Test: an improved approach to early oral cancer detection and preventionThis project aims to assess the Oral Cancer Risk Test’s (OCRT) ability to differentiate between patients who are known to have oral cancer and patients who do not, and to detect patients with early stage oral cancer or high risk of developing this disease
015 - Say Ahhh: what do GPs, dentists and community pharmacists do about bad breath?This project aims to improve the primary care management of patients with halitosis.
016 - Body Dysmorphic Disorder: A Practice-Based StudyThe project will help dental practitioners to identify patients with symptoms of Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) attending dental practices for dental procedures before irreversible treatment is performed. Early identification of patients who have BDD will
017 - Facilitators & barriers to oral health for children with cardiac conditionsThis study seeks to identify the barriers and facilitators to good oral health in children with congenital cardiac disease.
018 - Dental health and attitudes in young adults aged 15–25 years with diabetes mellitusThis study seeks to determine whether there are additional oral health issues in young adults who have diabetes mellitus compared with healthy young adults. It also seeks to assess links between oral health and diabetes self-efficacy.

Do you have a research idea/concept that you would like to explore further? If so, please complete and submit the project proposal form.

Once the form has been submitted the eviDent Committee will consider the proposal against the following criteria:

  • Is the research idea or concept a researchable question?
  • Does it fit within our aims and objectives?
  • Is the study fundable?

If the proposal meets the criteria, interest will be invited from eviDent’s Chief Investigators and Associate Investigators.
Once the project team is established you will be asked to complete a research protocol form for the eviDent DPBRN Committee to consider.
